Ball Handling Drills – Part One
Dribble the ball harder (pound the basketball every time your dribble), tighter (keep in your body box – between the shoulders), lower (ankle height, knee height, waste height, shoulder height)
Always going to dribble one level higher than you think you are (1:53)
Most people should dribble at knee height – so practice at ankle height (2:30)
Start difficult and simplify
Two balls – 45 degree ankle – crossover other 45 degree angle (think zig zag) – same ball crosses over behind (3:42)
Same drill – turning shoulder at the 45 degree angle (5:55) – Okay to enter an extra dribble between turns until you get familiar
Same dribble with between the legs. Between the legs outside hand (7:10)
Keep ball tight to your leg as possible (8:00)
9:30 Same drill behind back (remember same ball behind you back – wide feet is what keeps the behind the back dribble from getting high
11:30 – Reduce to one ball – baseline to baseline –
Crossover to one baseline
Between the legs (Shoulders down between the legs)
Behind the back (wide legs
Alternate (Crossover, between the leg, behind the back)
