Secret to shooting your best every day
2:15 Shot warmup (developing sense of timing, rhythm and feel)
(standards that player has for the day)
Dots on gym floor (3 feet, 6 feet, 9 feet, etc). Half way between the hash mark on the block
16 out of 20 to advance to the next dot from 3 feet (4:03) – Start over if you miss the standard
6 feet, 9 feet, and free throw line required 6 our of 10 shots to earn promotion to the next level
15 feet – five out of ten to advance
Three point range – four out of ten to meet the standard
(Standard is flexible based on skill level)
Failure to meet a standard at one level sends you back to the previous level
Guarantee to start you day successfully if you start closer to the hoop. Shooters will form an opinion about their shot in the first 10-11 shots.
Importance of consistency in warm-ups like a golfer who needs to be consistent over four days, 72 holes
Range can change on a daily basis.(9:53)
When you fail to reach a standard, you move up to the previous distance to avoid triggering a failure response (12:21)
Shooting out of a slump is terrible advice (13:20)
16:00 – Starting close and working back helps with different backgrounds in different venues
Limited amount of time, pre-game warmups: Start close and work your way back (18:10)
Shooting is the most important fundamental in the game of basketball (18:30)
You can’t afford not to find time to shoot a basketball
